Polar Bears Celebrate Pride Month 2025

By ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ News
Throughout the month of June, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ celebrated Pride Month with a series of events that brought together alumni, faculty, staff, and students in support of the LGBTQ+ community.

Reunion Weekend Kickoff
The festivities began on May 30 with an LGBTQ+ social at Ladd House featuring lawn games, rainbow-themed treats, and a group photo.

Brunswick Pride Festival
On June 14, members of the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ community joined LGBTQ-affirming organizations from across Maine on Brunswick’s town mall. Visitors to the ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ table were invited to participate in the activity “Leave Some Queer Joy, Take Some Queer Joy,” in which they could write uplifting messages that were displayed for others to read and take.

Portland Pride Parade
On June 21, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ community members marched in the Portland Pride Parade through Monument Square to Deering Oaks. Participants sported custom ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Pride swag—including warrior head wraps and sunglasses.

Out & Proudly NESCAC Pride Gatherings
On June 25, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ and NESCAC peer schools cohosted regional pride socials in cities across the US, including Boston, Denver, New York City, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Washington, DC. These events fostered connection among NESCAC alumni and amplified LGBTQ+ visibility nationwide.

The month’s events were cosponsored by the Office of Alumni Relations, the Sexuality, Women, and Gender Center (SWAG), and ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ’s faculty and staff group, Queers and Allies (Q&A).
