Michael Wood
Hometown:
Hampden, Maine
Education:
I earned my A.B. from ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ with a double major in French and English & Theater. I earned my Master of Fine Arts in Classical Acting from The George Washington University/Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC.
Background
I was born, raised, and educated in rural Maine, aspects of which have contributed to my enduring love of nature and community-making. I have worked in a multitude of fields: entertainment, arts administration, service, media, LGBTQ+ political advocacy, carpentry, retail, marketing, and education in various forms. I previously served as ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ’s Assistant Dean of First-Year Students, supporting International Students, Student Accessibility, BASE, and New Student Orientation. Additionally, I collaborated with the predecessor to SWAG, facilitating events for Queer men on campus, including community dinners, sex-positive health workshops, and intergenerational connection events. I’ve previously been invited to ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ as a guest instructor in the Francophone Studies, Theater & Dance, and Italian Studies departments where I taught in French, English, and Italian languages. Beyond ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ, I love to travel, learn languages, spend time with family, perform on stage and film, and go on walks with my pup, Pam.
